How does Dermaplaning work?

The Dermaplaning treatment is a physical/mechanical exfoliation that safely removes dead skin cells (keratinocytes) located within the Stratum Corneum layer of the Epidermis.
When the dead skin cells are removed the outer most skin layer instantly becomes decongested, making way for new fresh skin cells which is why the skin appears brighter and smoother after Dermaplaning.
A build up of dead skin cells can make the skin have uneven textures. For clients this may mean their skin feels tough, bumpy or flaky to touch.
An added benefit of Dermaplaning is the safe removal of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) which can naturally cause a dull, grey, ashy appearance and can make pigmentation appear darker.
Professional Dermaplaning equipment is used to carry out the treatment.
Strict hygiene is adhered to for all treatments at Daisy Skin, together with proper use & disposal of single-use surgical blades specifically manufactured for Dermaplane use.

Dermaplane Deluxe Facial Experience
*** NOW includes Brow Styling, Brow Tint and Facial Waxing (if required)
Relax and unwind from the days stresses and treat your skin to a rejuvenating deluxe facial.
We begin by double cleansing the skin to lift any surface impurities, then welcome an ionised facial steam. This is accompanied with relaxing music as you focus on your breath as the steam lifts deeper impurities, oxygenates and hydrates your skin.
Brows help frame the face, therefore a facial would be lost without a complimentary brow styling and tint. We will also do any facial waxing (chin / upper lip) if required to help you face remain fresh for longer.
The Dermaplane treatment gently and meticulously exfoliates dead skin cells & removes the fine vellus hair giving your skin a new "photo finish" glow.
Now that your face is freed from congestion, fine vellus hair and bumpy textures we move into a nourishing anti-aging fruit enzyme peel that brightens the skin, calms redness, firms and tones the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
The facial is completed by PH balancing hydrosols and Daisy Skin's own bespoke triple hydration formula leaving your skin soft and supple.

DERMAPLANING FAQ
Is Dermaplaning safe?
Yes, Dermaplaning it is a safe treatment that’s suitable for all skin types. The instrument used is surgical grade, therefore it has passed strict manufacturing standards (quality assurance). Our practitioners at Daisy Skin are qualified skin therapists with additional training in Dermaplaning.
Please check the Am I A Good Candidate for Dermaplaning section on this page.
What's the difference from a DIY Dermaplane to a Daisy Skin Dermaplane?
Daisy Skin are professionally trained and insured to perform the Dermaplaning treatment. We only use surgical grade equipment the ensure your safety. Premium products are used before, throughout and after the treatment to achieve an outcome that is expected from a paid professional.

How often can I have Dermaplaning?
To maintain healthy skin-cell turnover it is recommended that Dermaplaning be carried out once every four weeks. The benefit of having a monthly Dermaplane treatment is that your skin therapist at Daisy Skin can review your skin each time, offer regular advice and customise the treatment.
Generally after 2-3 treatments, combined with an effective skincare regime, you should see great improvement in the condition of your skin.
How is Dermaplaning different to other exfoliating treatments?
When comparing other exfoliating methods such as Scrubs, Mechanical Brushes, Microdermabrasion, Waxing, Sugaring, Derma-Filing – Dermaplaning is the ONLY method that successfully removes a build-up of dead skin cells AND Vellus hair in the one treatment.
Does Dermaplaning remove beard and moustache hair?
Male beard & moustache hair is classified as ‘terminal hair’ and is not recommended to be removed as part of the Dermaplane treatment.
However, the fine hairs on everyones face (referred to as Vellus or peach fuzz) is removed which enhances the skins appearance.

Does the hair grow back quicker, darker, thicker after Dermaplaning?
No, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly to its original length in approximately 4 weeks.
Is there downtime? Can I return to work/school after Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive treatment with no downtime. Immediately following treatment you may continue with normal activities - except for rigorous exercise, exposure to extreme heat, direct sun and chlorinated pools/spas.
Be sure to familiarise yourself with the Pre and Post Treatment Care on this page prior to booking in for your Dermaplane.
